8th of March
25.02-10.03.2013
Mother’s Day has been celebrated from the times of the Olympian Gods when there was a festival dedicated to the mother of all gods and goddesses by the name of Rhea in Ancient Greece.
Women’s day was recognized as an international holiday in 1977 thus becoming celebrated mostly all over Europe and the United States, each one of the countries celebrating according to its own approach.
In Romania, on the 8th of March, women are celebrated. Up until December 1989 mother’s day was celebrated on March 8, but after the revolution Mother’s Day was replaced by Women’s Day. It is the day when the woman should be placed on the pedestal of a queen and receives flowers meaning respect and gratitude.
